Elder care in Kottayam, for families living abroad

Kottayam has been sending its children abroad for longer than almost anywhere else in Kerala. Whole neighbourhoods here have raised nurses and engineers who now live in Houston, Manchester and Dubai.

Where we visit in Kottayam

The result is a district full of large family homes with two people in them. Your parents will tell you they are managing. They usually are, right up until the week they are not, and the phone call that reaches you is the one you dread.

We cover the whole district on the same plans, villages included, so your parents' address does not need to be a town you have heard us name. If you are unsure, ask on the free consultation call and we will confirm before anything is paid.

What a visit in Kottayam includes

Every plan is built on the same visit. What changes between plans is how often a CareMate comes and how much coordination sits on top.

Companionship

Conversation, presence, and unhurried time. This is the part parents actually look forward to, and the reason the rest of it works.

Wellbeing check-in

How your parents are really doing: sleep, appetite, mood, energy. Written down honestly, not smoothed over.

Medication reminders

A gentle reminder at the visit, and a note on how the days in between have gone. CareMates remind, they never administer.

Doctor and hospital visits

A CareMate goes with your parents, waits, and sends you a plain-English summary of what the doctor said and what happens next.

Errands and home lab tests

Medicine pickup and delivery, home collection of blood samples, and the small errands that have quietly become hard.

Updates you can read

Every visit written up the same day in the family app, so you are not piecing together how your parents are from a short phone call.

Getting to appointments in Kottayam

Kottayam town carries most of the district's specialist care (the Government Medical College at Gandhi Nagar and the General Hospital), with St. Thomas Hospital at Chethipuzha near Changanassery and general hospitals at Pala and Kanjirappally serving the eastern side of the district.

We accompany your parents to whichever of these they already use, and to the local clinic down the road if that is where they go. Zeraphos does not steer anyone toward a particular hospital and has no arrangement with any of them. We arrange the transport, a CareMate waits through the appointment, and you get a written summary of what was said.

Questions families in Kottayam ask

My parents are in the rubber belt near Kanjirappally, well outside town. Is that covered?

Yes. Kanjirappally, Erattupetta and the eastern villages are inside the district and inside our service area. The drive is longer, which is exactly why families there ask for help getting to appointments in Kottayam town.

One parent has memory problems and does not take well to strangers. What then?

We match on temperament, not just availability, and the first visits are deliberately unhurried: tea, conversation, no clipboard. Most resistance is to being handled, not to company. If the match is wrong, tell us and we change the CareMate.

Can you coordinate with the doctor at the Medical College?

We accompany your parents to appointments, help them get there, and send you a written summary of what was said and what happens next. We are a coordination service, not a clinical one: every medical decision stays with your parents' own doctors.
